The Swiss Pharmaceutical company Novartis is planning on building seven facilities and expanding investment in the United States amid Donald Trump’s tariff announcements.

Six of the facilities will be manufacturing plants.

Pharmaceutical company Novartis announced plans to build seven facilities in the United States and expand others in a $23 billion investment over five years on the heels of President Donald Trump’s announcement of forthcoming tariffs on imported drugs.

Six of the facilities will be manufacturing plants, two of which will focus on radioligand therapy in Florida and Texas. It remains to be seen where the other four plants will be built.

Moreover, the company is establishing a biomedical research innovation center in San Diego as part of the investment, and it is expanding three of its production facilities in Indiana, New Jersey, and California.

In a press release, Novartis said, “Novartis, a leading global innovative medicines company, announced a planned $23 billion investment over 5 years in US-based infrastructure, ensuring all key Novartis medicines for US patients will be made in the United States.”

Build 2 new radioligand therapy (RLT) manufacturing facilities in Florida and Texas

Expand 3 RLT manufacturing facilities in Indianapolis, IN, Millburn, NJ, and Carlsbad, CA

With these investments, Novartis will have manufacturing capacity in the US for all its core technology platforms, including small molecules and biologics. Novartis already manufactures its most innovative, advanced therapies in the US for patients in the US and around the world. This includes cutting-edge technology platforms like gene and cell therapy and RLT manufacturing. This new investment will bring internal manufacturing of the company’s siRNA technology to the US for the first time and reflects a commitment to increase US manufacturing across its main therapeutic areas: oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular, renal and metabolic. With new manufacturing capacity, Novartis will be able to produce 100% of its key medicines end-to-end in the US, a significant increase from current levels.

“As a Swiss-based company with a significant presence in the US, these investments will enable us to fully bring our supply chain and key technology platforms into the US to support our strong US growth outlook. These investments also reflect the pro-innovation policy and regulatory environment in the US that supports our ability to find the next medical breakthroughs for patients,” said Vas Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis. “We are prepared for shifts in the external environment and fully confident in our 2025 guidance, mid- to long-term sales growth outlook and 2027 core margin guidance of 40%+.”

The investment includes a newly planned $1.1 billion research hub in San Diego, a state-of-the-art research facility that will provide world-class scientific infrastructure and drug discovery capabilities to enhance and strengthen the efforts of Novartis scientists working to reimagine the future of medicine. The new complex, expected to open between 2028 and 2029, will serve as the epicenter of the Novartis West Coast Biomedical Research presence, complementing existing hubs in Cambridge, MA, and Basel, Switzerland.

In addition, the company will be expanding RLT manufacturing with new facilities in Florida and Texas. Novartis is the only organization with a dedicated commercial RLT portfolio, and has established global expertise, with specialized supply chain and manufacturing capabilities across its network of RLT production facilities. To support growing demand for RLTs in the US, Novartis has already expanded production capabilities in Millburn, NJ, and a state-of-the-art facility in Indianapolis, IN, and is currently building a third US RLT manufacturing facility in Carlsbad, CA.

The US is a priority market for Novartis, and the company has taken numerous steps over its 200-year history to build its US infrastructure. Over the next 5 years, the total investment in Novartis US operations is expected to be nearly $50 billion, marking a clear demonstration of the company’s focus on the US.

Wholesale prices dropped more than expected in March.

The Producer Price Index dropped .4% in March – it was expected to rise by .2%.

CNBC reported:

Wholesale prices unexpectedly fell in March, setting up a favorable inflation backdrop as President Donald Trump began intensifying tariffs against U.S. trading partners, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.

The producer price index, considered a leading indicator for pipeline inflation pressures, declined a seasonally adjusted 0.4% for the month, after rising 0.1% in February. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for an increase of 0.2%.

Excluding food and energy, so-called core PPI also declined, down 0.1% against the estimate for a 0.3% increase. The index less food, energy and trade services increased 0.1%.

This comes after the consumer price index also fell in March.

Epoch Times reported:

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual inflation rate declined to 2.4 percent from 2.8 percent in February, the lowest reading since September 2024.
Economists had penciled in a reading of 2.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) fell by a better-than-expected 0.1 percent.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, also eased to 2.8 percent. This is the first time that annual core inflation has been below 3 percent since early 2021.

DOGE has exposed multiple examples of wasteful government spending.

Another was a $5.2 million contract with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the human resources agency for the federal government, to “provide strategic advisory and assistance to improve and transform current processes and organizational systems”.

DOGE recently announced $51 million in cuts from the U.S. African Development Foundation, which included hundreds of thousands of dollars for marketing shea butter and pineapple juice, as well as mango drying facilities.

It recently helped the U.S. Coast Guard save $32.7 million by eliminating an “ineffective IT program” known as the Logistics Information Management System.

DOGE is exposing waste, fraud, and abuse in the government. 

Donald Trump revoked the security clearance of former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Chris Krebs.

Trump called him a “fraud” and “disgrace.”

President Donald Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum revoking the security clearance of former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Chris Krebs.

While Trump signed various executive orders in the Oval Office on Wednesday, White House staff secretary Will Scharf explained to Trump that the Presidential Memorandum regarding Krebs “addresses his access to government existing clearances he might have.”

“I don’t know that I met him. I’m sure I met him, but I didn’t know him, and he came out right after the election — which was a rigged election, a badly rigged election. We did phenomenally in that election,” Trump said. “Look what happened to our country because of it — open borders, millions of people coming into our country. Russia and Ukraine, that would have never happened; October 7th would’ve never happened. Afghanistan, they way they withdraw, 13 dead, but so many killed. I mean, so many, so many killed outside of the 13 soldiers. Hundreds of people killed. And, maybe, I don’t know, never mentioned, but I mentioned it, 42 or 43 people so badly injured, the legs, the arms, blown off, the face, and this is all because of a incompetent group of people that preceded us. And, that would’ve never happened, and this guy Krebs was saying, ‘Oh, the election was great, it was great.’”

The order also calls for an investigation into Krebs and ex-DHS official Miles Taylor.

Zoom in: The order calls for the Department of Justice to investigate both officials’ activities as government employees and also temporarily revokes the clearances held by any of their known associates.

For Taylor, the order specifically calls out any security clearance for individuals at the University of Pennsylvania, where Taylor is a lecturer, “pending a review of whether such clearances are consistent with the national interest,” according to the White House.

For Krebs, the security clearances include any given to staff at cybersecurity company SentinelOne, where Krebs currently works.

Krebs’ DOJ investigation will include “a comprehensive evaluation of all of CISA’s activities over the last 6 years and will identify any instances where Krebs’ or CISA’s conduct appears to be contrary to the administration’s commitment to free speech and ending federal censorship,” according to the order.

Trump is investigating the Deep State.

Trump said he was “proud to be the President for the workers” while speaking at the National Republican Congressional Committee.

President Donald Trump expressed that he was “proud to be the President for the workers,” and the middle class, instead of Wall Street, the political class, and “the outsourcers.”

While speaking at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) dinner on Tuesday, Trump spoke about how the Democrat Party was “not afraid” that the Trump administration’s America First policies would fail, but that they were “terrified” the strategy would succeed.

Trump also added that he was excited for the mid-term elections and accused the Democrats of “treason” by allowing millions of illegal aliens to pour into the United States “through open borders.”

“Our opponents are not afraid that our America First policies will fail, they’re terrified that our strategy will succeed and we’re going to get bigger and stronger and better as a party, and that’s what’s happening — and that is what’s happening,” Trump said. “It’s going to be something, and I’m actually looking forward to the mid-terms. We’re going to prove that all of their treasonous years of betrayal will not be forgotten — cause it’s treason, what they did is treason. When they allowed millions of people to pour in through open borders — from all over the world they came, to me that’s treason. What they’ve done to our country is unthinkable.”

Mitch McConnell voted against Trump’s pick to serve as undersecretary of policy at the Defense Department, Elbridge Colby.

Colby was confirmed by a 54-45 vote.

Former Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Tuesday voted against Elbridge Colby, President Trump’s pick to serve as under secretary of policy at the Defense Department, warning of “geostrategic self-harm” if the U.S. followed through on Colby’s priorities.

McConnell, in a statement explaining his vote, took issue with Colby’s past statements arguing that the United States should pivot its national security focus away from Europe and the Middle East and toward the Indo-Pacific.

“The prioritization that Mr. Colby argues is fresh, new, and urgently needed is, in fact, a return to an Obama-era conception of a la carte geostrategy. Abandoning Ukraine and Europe and downplaying the Middle East to prioritize the Indo-Pacific is not a clever geopolitical chess move,” McConnell warned.

“It is geostrategic self-harm that emboldens our adversaries and drives wedges between America and our allies for them to exploit,” he said.

JD Vance ripped McConnell for voting against Colby by saying, “Mitch’s vote today…is one of the great acts of political pettiness I’ve ever seen.”

Vice President JD Vance spoke out against Sen. Mitch McConnell’s, R-Ky., vote against confirming Elbridge Colby to serve as undersecretary of defense for policy.

The Senate passed a budget blueprint for Donald Trump’s agenda.

According to ABC, “it will unlock the next step in the reconciliation process and will allow committees in both the House and the Senate to begin drafting legislation aimed at accomplishing Republican wish-list items.”

It now has to go to the House to be passed.

After about six hours of amendment votes, the Senate approved a budget blueprint Saturday morning by a vote of 51-48.

Republican Sens. Rand Paul and Susan Collins cast votes against the resolution. Every other Republican in the chamber voted for it, and every Democrat voted against it.

The resolution only needed a simple majority of votes to pass, so it now heads to the House for further consideration.

If the House also approves the proposal, it will unlock the next step in the reconciliation process and will allow committees in both the House and the Senate to begin drafting legislation aimed at accomplishing Republican wish-list items such as raising the debt ceiling, increasing border security and extending President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts.

An economic adviser in the White House said, “There are more than 50 countries reaching out and trying to negotiate this new status with the president.”

A top White House economic adviser said on April 6 that more than 50 countries have contacted the Trump administration to initiate negotiations over a broad swath of tariffs that were announced in the first week of April on nearly every nation in the world.

In an interview with ABC News “This Week,” Kevin Hassett, head of the White House’s National Economic Council, said that “there are more than 50 countries reaching out and trying to negotiate this new status with the president” since the tariffs were announced.

“They’re doing that because they understand that they bear a lot of the tariff,” he told the outlet.
