Usha Vance and Trump’s national security adviser Michael Waltz will be heading to Greenland.

Vance will be part of the U.S. delegation visiting “historic sites” and “learn about Greenlandic heritage.”

AP reported:

Second lady Usha Vance plans a trip to Greenland, at a time when President Donald Trump has suggested the United States should take control over the self-governing, mineral-rich territory of American ally Denmark.

Vance will leave on Thursday and return Saturday, according to her office. Vance and one of her three children will be part of a U.S. delegation that will “visit historic sites” and “learn about Greenlandic heritage.”

Media outlets in Greenland and Denmark reported that Vance would be accompanied by Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz. The White House and the National Security Council did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Waltz is expected to be touring a U.S. military base.

New York Times reported:

Separately, Michael Waltz, the national security adviser, is expected to tour a U.S. military base, two U.S. officials said. Chris Wright, the energy secretary, is expected to join him, according to another person with knowledge of the visit, as the Trump administration increases its focus on Arctic security and the Western Hemisphere.

These visits come as the Trump administration continues their push to acquire Greenland.

Over 10,000 military troops have been deployed to the border in less than three months.

Trump issued multiple executive orders in his first week in office to secure the border.

Within 36 hours of his order being issued, an initial 1,500 U.S. troops were deployed to the southwest border, bringing the total to 4,000 troops, including 2,500 reservists already there.

Border apprehensions have plunged under Donald Trump’s administration.

Axios reported:

Driving the news: Border Patrol recorded around 8,300 apprehensions of migrants who crossed the border unlawfully between ports of entry in February, according to the data obtained by Axios.

In January, according to CBP statistics, Border Patrol recorded some 29,100 encounters, down from around 47,300 the month prior.

The February numbers are the lowest recorded since FY 2000, the earliest year of monthly data publicly accessible.

There were over 130,000 encounters in both February 2023 and 2024.

Joe Biden wants to help the Democrats again.

According to a report from NBC, “Former President Joe Biden has told some Democratic leaders he’ll raise funds, campaign and do anything else necessary for Democrats to recover lost ground.”

Former Biden administration aides blasted the Bidens over this.

One former senior White House adviser said, “The Bidens are still living in an alternative universe that revolves only around them.”

New York Post reported:

Recent public polling shows Democrats’ support has cratered, with less than one-third of Americans approving of the party’s performance since President Trump returned to the White House Jan. 20.

“The Bidens are still living in an alternative universe that revolves only around them,” a onetime senior White House adviser told The Post in response to the NBC report.

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to demand an apology from Maine governor Janet Mills.

Trump said, “While the State of Maine has apologized for their Governor’s strong, but totally incorrect, statement…we have not heard from the Governor herself, and she is the one that matters in such cases.”

He also added, “we need a full throated apology from the Governor herself, and a statement that she will never make such an unlawful challenge to the Federal Government again, before this case can be settled.”

The University of Maine System is now complying with the Trump administration’s order barring trans-identifying men from competing in women’s sports.

A statement from the United States Department of Agriculture said that the University of Maine System (UMaine) will follow the Trump administration’s order barring trans-identifying men from competing in women’s sports after university funding was paused amid the state’s continued refusal to comply, Fox News reported.

“After the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) initiated a Title IX compliance review regarding federal funding, the University of Maine System (UMaine) has clearly communicated its compliance with Title IX’s requirement to protect equal opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and fair sports, as articulated in President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order,” the USDA statement read.

“Any false claim by the UMaine can, and will, result in onerous and even potentially criminal financial liability,” it added.

The husband of former Democrat congresswoman Cori Bush has been indicted on wire fraud.

The DOJ said in a statement, “Cortney Merritts…was charged today by federal indictment with two counts of wire fraud for allegedly filing fraudulent applications with the Small Business Administration in 2020 and 2021 that allowed him to collect more than $20,000 in government funds under the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL) and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).”

WASHINGTON – Cortney Merritts, 46, of St. Louis, Missouri, was charged today by federal indictment with two counts of wire fraud for allegedly filing fraudulent applications with the Small Business Administration in 2020 and 2021 that allowed him to collect more than $20,000 in government funds under the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL) and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward Martin Jr., Special Agent in Charge Amaleka McCall Brathwaite of the Eastern Region for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of the Inspector General, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean Ryan of the Washington Field Office Criminal and Cyber Division.

According to the indictment, on July 7, 2020, Merritts received an $8,500 EIDL loan from the SBA for a moving business he operated that he called Vetted Couriers. In the application he submitted for Vetted Couriers, Merritts certified that his business had six employees and had generated $32,000 in gross revenue between January 30, 2019 and January 30, 2020.

On July 8, 2020, Merritts submitted another application to the SBA for an EIDL loan in the name of a sole proprietorship he called “Courtney Merritts.” In this EIDL application, Merritts fraudulently claimed to have a business that employed ten people and generated $53,000 in gross revenue between January 30, 2019 and January 30, 2020. In addition to an EIDL loan, Merritts also requested an EIDL advance of up to $10,000 based on his false claim that he had 10 employees. The SBA rejected Merritts’ attempt to obtain additional EIDL funds after determining that his July 2020 application was nearly identical to the prior one he submitted.

The indictment further alleges that on April 22, 2021, Merritts applied for a PPP loan in the name of a sole proprietorship he called “Cortney Merritts.” Merritts fraudulently claimed in this application that he had created this business in 2020 and that it had generated $128,000 in gross income that year. Based on Merritts’ representations about his gross income, Merritts received a $20,832 PPP loan. Merritts used the proceeds for his personal benefit and enjoyment. In July 2022, Merritts submitted a loan forgiveness application in which he falsely claimed that this business had 10 employees at the time of the PPP loan, and that he spent the $20,832 on payroll costs. Based on Merritts’ alleged fraudulent representations, the SBA forgave the PPP loan in the amount of $20,832 and the $254.03 in interest.

This case is being investigated by Small Business Administration Office of the Inspector General and the FBI Washington Field Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Rothstein and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Rami Sibay.

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The report cites anonymous sources claiming Musk was attending a briefing that included 20 to 30 slides on how the US would fight a war against China.

Yahoo News reported:

A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the briefing for Musk would be attended by senior U.S. military officials in the Pentagon and would be an overview on a number of different topics, including China.

According to the New York Times report, the briefing would include 20 to 30 slides that lay out how the United States would fight in a conflict with China. The newspaper cited two U.S. officials it did not identify.

Access to the closely guarded military plan would mark a sharp expansion of Musk’s role as a Trump adviser who has spearheaded efforts to cut U.S. government spending.

It would also fuel questions about conflicts of interest for Musk, who as the head of Tesla and SpaceX has business interests in China and with the Pentagon.

The Federal Reserve in a closely watched decision Wednesday held the line on benchmark interest rates though still indicated that reductions are likely later in the year.

Faced with pressing concerns over the impact tariffs will have on a slowing economy, the rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee kept its key borrowing rate targeted in a range between 4.25%-4.5%, where it has been since December. Markets had been pricing in virtually zero chance of a move at this week’s two-day policy meeting.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is facing backlash over his decision on the continuing resolution.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is facing more calls to step aside than have previously been reported, with the possibility of more soon to come, Axios has learned.

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.), asked at a town hall on Tuesday whether Schumer should “retire or step down,” nodded her head and said “yes.” Ramirez’s comments have not previously been reported.

The liberal group Indivisible has also called on Schumer to resign as leader. Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-Md.) also followed suit at a town hall on Tuesday.

One House Democrat, asked if more could follow, told Axios: “I think there are some already there but just haven’t been asked directly or avoided the question.”

Nancy Pelosi also called out Schumer saying, “I myself don’t give away anything for nothing…I think that’s what happened the other day.”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered a sharp critique of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday, suggesting he had forfeited a crucial bargaining chip by allowing a vote on Republicans’ government funding bill.

“I myself don’t give away anything for nothing,” Pelosi told reporters during a news conference at a children’s hospital in San Francisco. “I think that’s what happened the other day.”

“We could have, in my view, perhaps, gotten them to agree to a third way,” Pelosi said. She said a potential outcome could have been a bipartisan continuing resolution to delay a shutdown for up to four weeks while negotiations continued.

She added, “They may not have agreed to it, but at least the public would have seen they’re not agreeing to it — and that then they would have been shutting (the) government down.”

The JFK Files have been released.

The New York Post reported:

The Trump administration released 80,000 files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy Tuesday evening — triggering a feeding frenzy among amateur historians, conspiracy buffs and experts who have studied the events of Nov. 22, 1963, since that fateful day in Dallas.

It was not immediately clear whether any new information about the death of the 35th president was covered in the files — most of which appeared to relate to the initial investigation of the assassination by the Warren Commission in 1964.
